Amping up the hype before next month’s launch date, Bandai Namco Entertainment has provided the new TEKKEN 8 story trailer showcasing Jin Kazama and his father Kazuya Mishima. The two minute preview shows Jin being stripped of his power while Kazuya looks as powerful as ever.
As seen in the TEKKEN 8 story trailer “The Dark Awakens” is an extension of the long-running plot that continues the war between the clans of Kazama and Mishima. Throughout the year, various trailers have showcased characters both new and old to the 30 year old fighting game series, but none have branched onto the story of TK8 and what to expect in the new chapter of the Mishima bloodline saga.
On January 26, 2024, TEKKEN 8 will be released for the PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. In addition to the thrilling, action-packed PvP combat that aficionados of the franchise are accustomed to, players can expect to play through the single player story campaign. The TK8 website states: The ongoing clash between Jin Kazama, determined to defy his destiny, and his father, Kazuya Mishima, who opposes him, progressively transforms into a major conflict involving the entire world.”
The TEKKEN 8 story trailer also shows Jin talking to his mother, Jun Kazama. She exhorts him to use his strength for his father’s rescue, as well as his own. We’ll have to wait and watch how the plot develops because another scene depicts Jin attempting to use his Devil abilities but failing.
For those who can’t wait till next month to get into the action, a free PS5 demo of TEKKEN 8 is now live, allowing players to experience the first chapter of the story mode. There’s also an introduction to Arcade Quest which serves as a helpful tutorial and a local versus mode.
