The Nike Sabrina 1 basketball shoes mark the New York Liberty guard’s first signature shoe
Sabrina Ionescu’s first ever signature basketball shoe has been introduced in the Nike Sabrina 1 basketball shoe. The New York Liberty guard is a two-time WNBA all-star and is still the NCAA all-time leader in career triple-doubles. It’s about time she received her first Swoosh silhouette.
The Nike Sabrina 1 basketball shoes are made to fit Ionescu’s lightning-quick, exciting play style. The full-length React cushioning and the forefoot-loaded Zoom Air unit provide the responsiveness that is a crucial component of the shoe’s performance.
A band system and lockdown cables are also installed in the midfoot to assist support for the foot and to provide a snug and locked-in fit. In order to pay homage to Ionescu’s heritage, Romanian art and architecture are embroidered on the forefoot and eyestays of the sneaker.
To honor her last name, a dotted “i” surrounds the heels, tops, and bottoms of the outsoles. Along with hidden “Anyone, Anywhere” quotations on the midsoles that signify her competitive attitude, vertically slanted Swooshes land on the medial panel to represent the obstacles she has overcome during her career. In addition, the tongues are imprinted with Sabrina’s signature symbol.
Since her time with the Oregon Ducks, Ionescu has been a Nike representative. Her future as a marquee athlete was always certain but few could have predicted that her first basketball shoe would look this good. The Nike Sabrina 1 basketball shoe is slated for a August 3 launch and will retail at the price of $125 on Nike’s online store, Nike retail stores, and other select retailers.
