Lazarus Anime First Trailer Revealed At Adult Swim Festival

“Toonami on the Green” event debuted the Lazarus anime first trailer

The 81-second long Lazarus anime first trailer has been revealed at the Adult Swim Festival “Toonami on the Green” event this week. Directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, the director of the classic Cowboy Bebop anime, Lazarus will be animated by Studio MAPPA and John Wick’s Chad Stahelski is also onboard to choreograph its action sequences. That’s quite the collab.

Due to the talent involved, Lazarus has grown to be one of the most eagerly awaited anime series since it was first announced. If a new Shinichiro Watanabe project sounds as interesting to you, here is everything we currently know about it to pique your interest.

With its use of electronic jazz, elegant animation, sci-fi atmosphere, and great action, the Lazarus anime first trailer establishes the tone of the series. It shows what seems to be a prison escape sequence with a young man running away, giving us a taste of the jazzy action.

Along with a sneak peek at all the other character designs, it also provides us our first look at what appears to be the show’s protagonist, a charming, tough young man with wavy black hair that even resembles Cowboy Bebop’s Spike Spiegel! The visuals are breathtaking as well.

Although no official release date has been specified, it is expected that the anime won’t be available until sometime in 2024. That said, Lazarus is set to premiere on Adult Swim’s Toonami block and may also arrive on Hulu following its initial release.
