The Haunted Mansion Remake Official Trailer Is Unhinged

A new teaser trailer has launched for the Haunted Mansion remake

We’ve got everything you need to know for the Haunted Mansion remake, starting with the official trailer that just launched. Could you believe it’s been 20 years since the release of the 2003 film with Eddie Murphy?

The eerie comedy movie based on the popular Disneyland attraction stars Rosario Dawson, LaKeith Stanfield, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jared Leto, Winona Ryder, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Dan Levy, Tiffany Haddish, and Hasan Minaj. Justin Simien, known for writing and directing Dear White People, is directing the upcoming film, which is written by Ghostbusters’ (2016) Katie Dippold.

As seen in the Haunted Mansion Remake official trailer, Dawson plays the role of Gabbie, a single mother who moves into a house in New Orleans with her nine-year old son, Travis, played by Chase W. Dillon. They quickly come to the conclusion that the house is inhabited by ghosts. Gabbie then seeks assistance from a paranormal investigator (Stanfield), a psychic (Haddish), a historian (DeVito), and a priest (Wilson) to drive out the evil spirits away from their new home.

A popular moment from the Haunted Mansion ride is when the Hatbox Ghost, played by Jared Leto in the Haunted Mansion remake, teleports his own head into a box. This feature was introduced briefly to the attraction in 1969 only to be removed. The Hatbox ghost officially returned to the Haunted Mansion ride in 2015.

Other recognizable ghosts seen in the Haunted Mansion Remake official trailer include the Ghost Host and the popular Black Widow Bride, Constance Hatchaway. Rumors are that Curtis will play as Madame Leotta while Ryder will be playing the bride.

2023’s Haunted Mansion arrives in theaters this summer on July 28.
