The Air Jordan 5 Burgundy drops August 12

Restocking for the first time since its initial debut in 2006, the Air Jordan 5 Burgundy will be making a comeback after 17 years. Full family sizes have been confirmed to release via the SNKRS app and select retailers on August 12.

Rewinding back to the mid 2000s, the Air Jordan 5 Burgundy was first made available as a part of Jordan Brand’s Lifestyle Series, known as “LS” for short. The shoe’s whole top is covered in Nike’s “Deep Burgundy” suede, and for further breathability, mesh paneling is included throughout the lateral and medial surfaces. The iconic oversized tongue of the AJ5 is then covered in a luminous finish and embroidered with the Jumpman emblem in the exact center.

Underfoot, the Nike Air technology infused midsole is embellished with flame-like features on both sides and allegedly inspired by fighter jets. The last touch to this flaming color scheme is an ice blue rubber outsole placed underfoot. Silver metallic highlights and other finishing touches including the silver laces keep faithful to the sneakers’ original design.

Due to its all-suede construction, which was quite distinctive at the time, the AJ5 Burgundy was the trainer that contributed to putting the Air Jordan 5 back in relevance. Since then, the silhouette has grown in popularity, earning hugely successful collaborations with brands such as Clot, Off-White, and Supreme.

Slated for a September 9 release, the Air Jordan 5 Burgundy will cost $225. For a more detailed look, make sure to check out the official images of the AJ5 Burgundy below.
