PlayStation State of Play March 2022 Recap

Square Enix and Capcom headline PlayStation State of Play March 2022 announcements

The PlayStation State of Play March 2022 marks the first State of Play event of the new year. Sony’s video game program showcased a boatload of fantastic looking new games from big name publishers such as Square Enix, a brand new Capcom IP, and many more from other developers across the world.

There were more updates and announcements than we can count in the mere 20 minute broadcast for PlayStation fans. We’ve done our best to extract only the best highlights throughout the PlayStation State of Play March 2022, but have also provided the full list of the announcements. Regardless, the future looks very solid for both PS4 and PS5 owners.

At the top of the list is Exoprimal, Capcom’s new IP where the player takes down countless hordes of dinosaurs. Sounds familiar doesn’t it? It definitely gives off vibes from Dino Crisis, Capcom’s survival horror series from 1999. Exoprimal will feature online multiplayer and is set to launch cross-platform in 2023.

The launch trailer for Ghostwire: Tokyo was finally revealed at the PlayStation State of Play March 2022. Tango’s newest PS5 exclusive action-adventure looks to be even more bizarre than we had expected, but it should come as no surprise since this is the same team that was behind The Evil Within franchise. Ghostwire: Tokyo launches on March 25.

Recently delayed from May 25 to October 11, gameplay footage was revealed for another PS5 exclusive, Forspoken. Players will be able to immerse in the fantasy-inspired open world and control the protagonist Frey while fighting against dragons and the undead.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has gained in popularity, especially in the states where it became the 8th best-selling manga franchise of fall 2021. Although the JoJo’s All-Star Battle R announcement is a remaster of the 2013 title from the PS3 era, it couldn’t have come at a better time. ORA ORA ORA!

Last but not least is the new TMNT video game collection, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection. There’s a whopping 13 retro TMNT games dating back to the 8-bit and 16-bit generations including Turtles In Time, Tournament Fighters, and even the Game Boy classic, Fall of The Foot Clan.
