Two colorways will release for the Nike SB x Gundam Collaboration
In celebration of the Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn series and its 15-year anniversary, Nike has united with the popular mecha anime series Gundam for their Nike SB x Gundam collaboration. They have created two colorways for the dunks. One is designed after the main protagonist in the anime, Banagher Links. The other is designed after another protagonist named Riddhe Marcenas.
The white colorway is modeled after the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam, which is based off Banagher Links’ giant robot in “Destroy Mode”. The shoe contains a leather white upper and white midsole, along with red stitching and black and red accents. The toe box is very intricate as they have removed the perforated holes and replaced them with millimeter wide cutouts, resembling the vents of the mecha.
The RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee version is a darker colorway with black and obsidian leathers instead of the whites. The midsoles and outsoles are black and there are metallic orange accents and stitching all around along with some rose gold near the black tongue.
A unique feature never before seen on any other Nike Dunk is the interchangeable Swoosh. The Swooshes on these Nike SB x Gundam Dunks symbolize the horn of the Gundam robot helmets and are made of velcro, making them detachable and mimicking Gunpla model kits. The Swoosh color is unique to each version of the dunk with RX-0 Unicorn taking a bold yellow while the 02 Banshee has gold. Each pair of shoes will also come with a sheet of Gundam decals.
Both Nike SB x Gundam shoes will launch on September 24 in limited skate shops in Japan, Europe, and China, and will also be available on the SNKRS app for those regions. The United States will have to wait a couple weeks longer as they will get their release on October 9 at skate shops and October 12 on SNKRS. Unfortunately, the Banshee version will not be available in the US via SNKRS.
