New A Wah Di Bumper Project By AK Gramm Reimagines Classic Cars

Take a look at the refreshing and vibrant A Wah Di Bumper project

Manchester designer AK Williams, aka AK Gramm, has launched the A Wah Di Bumper project, a collection of works that reimagines the form of vintage cars. From BMWs to Volkswagens, the designer’s inflatable art direction is surely a sight to see.

The development of Manchester’s artistic scene has been significantly influenced by AK, who is also the founder of the Manchester-based label Gramm. His company, which was established in 2015, is in the works to stock the company’s main store that is scheduled to debut in 2024.

All the things AK Gramm was exposed to and valued as a child are now reinterpreted by him through his own futuristic perspective. This is taking place as AK works on his forthcoming collections with his imprint, performs regularly at his Habitat club nights, and collaborates with the FA on football.

Titled “A Wah Di Bumper”, AK’s new project  reimagines numerous vehicles, including the Austin Metro, Volkswagen Jetta, Mercedes-Benz G-Class, and BMW 5 Series E34 and 3 Series E30. Here we see the large amounts of neon green, clouds of smoke, and inflatable details across engines.

“I used all of my favorite types of cars and imagined them in a way that I’ve always wanted to see them,” said AK. Additionally, AK states that his creation adds an ethereal feeling of awe. “I merely make stuff to see things I’ve never seen before. It’s more articulating my thoughts in a medium that everyone else can see. It’s a mixture of past and present as it’s key to always look forward, but it’s our past that also helps create your vision of the future, whether that’s good or bad.”
