“If the path seems too easy, you’re on the wrong path,” says the endlessly optimistic Luffy in the One Piece Netflix final trailer.

In an interview with The New York Times, Oda stated that the live-action One Piece series has more dialogue when compared to the manga. Oda was optimistic about the series’ success.

“Thankfully, Netflix agreed that they wouldn’t go out with the show until I agreed it was satisfactory,” said Oda. “I read the scripts, gave notes and acted as a guard dog to ensure the material was being adapted in the correct way.”

The series will debut in just a couple of hours from now on August 31 at 12 AM PST. Get ready to set sail!
