Live-Action Avatar The Last Airbender premieres February 22

Netflix has launched the official trailer for the live-action Avatar The Last Airbender adaptation. The core cast is shown, which also teases at the crazy and perilous experiences that Momo, Aappa, Katara, Sokka, and Aang will go on while attempting to save the world from the Fire Nation.

As seen in the trailer, “The Fire Nation is embarked on a dark path. And the world might never recover. The world needs the Avatar. It needs you, Aang.”

The trailer delves deeper into the mind of 12-year-old Aang, who is naturally terrified of the enormous amount of responsibility that rests on his shoulders, as well as his friendship with Katara and Sokka. There are also some new characters that viewers get to see for the first time, such as June, Jet, and King Bumi. We also get our first glimpses of the Earth Kingdom king of Omashu, and the beast Nyla.

The live-action Avatar The Last Airbender adaptation is a reworking of the Nickelodeon series created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. After the Fire Nation destroys the Air Nomads, it centers on the reawakening of Aang (Gordon Cormier), who assumes his rightful place as the next Avatar.

Along with his newfound friends, two siblings from the Southern Water Tribe named Sokka (Ian Ousley) and Katara (Kiawentiio), Aang is now on a mission to save the world. However, along the way, he must avoid Crown Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation (Dallas Liu), who is determined to capture the Avatar in order to regain his honor and the respect of his father, Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim).

The live-action Avatar The Last Airbender series will span across a total of eight episodes and will launch February 22 on Netflix.
