Bethesda Softworks And Tango Gameworks Announce Hi-Fi Rush Rhythm Action Game

The Hi-Fi Rush rhythm action game drops today

Award-winning game studio Tango Gameworks have revealed something entirely unexpected in the new Hi-Fi Rush rhythm action game. Following The Evil Within franchise and Ghostwire: Tokyo, both darker titles, Hi-Fi Rush looks to be one of the most unique and fun games to launch this generation.

Everything in the world of the Hi-Fi Rush rhythm action game moves to the beat of the music, from the surrounding environments to the actions made by the game’s aspiring rockstar protagonist, Chai. It’s all in sync here, and it’s a refreshing style of gameplay that we’ve haven’t felt since Crypt of the NecroDancer or Sayonara Wild Hearts, but executed in a comic-styled 3D action game.

We’re also getting vibes of Jet Set Radio here, a cel-shaded Dreamcast classic that featured a good mix of rollerblading and graffiti-tagging, except in Hi-Fi Rush it’s the combat mechanics that are so engaging. When controlling Chai, each press of a button will hop, dodge, block, and attack in rhythm with the music. Maintaining rhythm will allow for more damage and stronger combos.

In addition to its official soundtrack, the Hi-Fi Rush rhythm action game also features licensed music during the game’s boss battles. Artists include The Prodigy, Nine Inch Nails, The Black Keys, The Joy Formidable, Wolfgang Gartner, Number Girl, and Zwan. Streamers don’t need to worry too much, and the game’s “Streamer Mode” will replace the licensed music with the game’s original songs.

Hi-Fi Rush will be available on Xbox Game Pass as well as Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store for $29.99. Don’t miss a beat and tune into the official launch trailer below.
