Dambuster Studios has changed the launch date for Dead Island 2
Almost ten years following the E3 2014 reveal of Dead Island 2, we finally got our hands on the new gameplay launch trailer for the Dead Island sequel developed by Dambuster Studios. After years of delay, the upcoming zombie action RPG is scheduled to launch this week on April 21.
Dead Island 2 is the third installment of the Dead Island series, set 15 years following the events of Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide. The city of Los Angeles has been quarantined by the United States government and military due to a zombie outbreak, and six “Slayers” have come onboard one of the last remaining evacuation flights out from the madness.
Players can select from the six Slayers, each with their own unique sets of abilities to choose from. For instance, Amy is agile and can gain a damage boost upon attack. Jacob is more tanky and can become more powerful with consecutive attacks. The game also allows the player to upgrade their character through a streamlined skill card system, further enhancing abilities.
The new frenzy ability in Dead Island 2 is one intriguing concept that has been demonstrated in the clips of gameplay. It results from a zombie bite on your character’s arm and gives them the ability to temporarily turn into zombies. As for the undead, Dambuster Studios has confirmed that there will be “dozens of distinct zombie types, each with their own mutations, attacks and hundreds of LA-themed variants.”
The long-delayed Dead Island sequel will be available across all consoles on PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC.
