DC FanDome Viewership Triples

In its second year, DC FanDome viewership tripled in 2021

It was reported today that the DC FanDome viewership for its 2021 event on October 16 shattered last year’s count with a total of 66 million views worldwide. In what was a worldwide experience, the DC FanDome livestream had fans participate from over 220 countries.

Fans were invited to immerse in exclusive first-looks and behind-the-scenes previews from upcoming feature films as well as live-action and animated television programs, games, and comics. For eight hours, DC FanDome was the most trending topic on Twitter in the United States and also charted in the Top 50 in 53 different countries.

“With triple the fan traffic of last year, DC FanDome 2021 exceeded all of our expectations,” said Chair and CEO of WarnerMedia Studios and Networks, Ann Sarnoff. “We continue to innovate across the company in service of our fans, and I cannot overstate the creativity and hard work that went into this highly curated, global digital event. We gave fans what they wanted – the very best of all things DC – and their engagement and response have been fantastic. We’re as excited as they are to deliver on all the great content DC FanDome highlighted.”

The DC FanDome viewership spanned across 50 livestreams on platforms such as YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, and Facebook. Some of the biggest highlights were the newest trailer for the upcoming The Batman film directed by Matt Reeves starring actors Robert Pattison and Zoe Kravitz. Also revealed was the first footage of The Flash starring Ezra Miller and set to release on November 4, 2022.

Other highlights include Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s debut in the DC Universe as Black Adam as he was shown in an official behind the scenes trailer for the Black Adam film. Trailers for Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and Peacemaker on HBO Max also aired.

The DC FanDome viewership proved that the livestream was a great success and that the DC Universe and the comic book community is stronger than ever. We are super excited to look forward to all of the announced titles and also what’s in store for the new year in 2022.
