Benicio Del Toro and Justin Timberlake star in the upcoming Netflix Reptile film

The forthcoming Netflix Reptile film directed by Grant Stinger has dropped its official trailer. Set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, the upcoming mystery crime thriller stars Benicio del Toro and Justin Timberlake and is the feature-film directorial debut from Singer.

The trailer for the Netflix Reptile film follows Detective Tom Nichols as he engages in an intensive pursuit to find the person who committed a grisly murder in his town. After a young real estate agent is killed, Benicio Del Toro dives deep into an investigation while simultaneously discovering troubles in his personal life.

Timberlake has been casted to play Will Grady, the victim’s mourning boyfriend. Alicia Silverstone plays the role of Del Toro’s wife, helping the investigation alongside Eric Bogosian, Ato Essandoh, Domenick Lombardozzi, and Michael Carmen Pitt.

As the primary suspect, Detective Nichols zeroes in on Will’s persona, while Detective Dan Cleary (Ato Essandoh) develops mounting concerns about a different potential attacker played by Sky Ferreira. Will claims that a strange man, played by Pitt, tried to force his way into the victim’s home the night before the murder, and another investigator (Michael Beasley) had his eye on him.

“I wanted to get to the end as quickly as possible, just like a good book or suspenseful novel,” Timberlake told Netflix in an interview. “I liked the idea of playing a character that has to constantly react to the unpredictability of what’s thrown in his direction.”

The Netflix Reptile film was co-written by Singer, Benjamin Brewer, and Del Toro.

“Once we knew where we needed the story to land, then the question becomes, ‘How do we get there? How do we make it interesting?’,” said Del Toro. “We did research and tried to make it as real as possible. We talked about movies and storytelling with certain films as references. One that comes to mind is In Cold Blood.”

The upcoming Netflix thriller-mystery will launch on the streaming service on September 29. Take a look at the Reptile official trailer below.
