The Warcraft Arclight Rumble mobile game has been announced—Do you guys not have phones?
Blizzard Entertainment’s Warcraft Arclight Rumble mobile game was revealed today for both iOS and Android. They’re describing the game as a “tower offense” strategic game that allows the player to collect and assemble an army of their favorite World of Warcraft heroes and villains to fight in a series of tactical battles.
Taking place in Azeroth, the upcoming free-to-play mobile action strategy game looks like a typical Warcraft strategy game with a cutesy Hearthstone-esque tower defense style. More along the lines of Clash Royale, players will command their troops or “minis” in battle using one of the five available leaders drawn from the Warcraft universe, such as Archmage Jaina Proudmoore for example.
Battles are set on a vertical map where the player deploys units into lanes to automatically fight enemies. There is no micromanagement required; all you have to do is send heroes down the lanes while following the rock-paper-scissors formula for the flying, ground, and ranged units.
Blizzard states they were inspired by tower defense games but that Arclight Rumble represents more of a “tower offense game”. Their developers call it a “mobile, strategy, fast-paced hero [and villain] collector” with a “vast PvE campaign.” More than 70 single-player missions are available in Arclight Rumble. Both PvE and PvP modes will allow players to earn gold while they battle through objectives, dungeons, and raids.
The Warcraft Arclight Rumble mobile game is officially Blizzard’s third mobile game following the Hearthstone (2014) collectible card game and the Diablo Immortal MMO-ARPG which launches this June. Although unlike Diablo Immortal, Blizzard has no plans to release Arclight Rumble to PC.
There hasn’t been any word on an official release date but gamers can pre-register now for the Warcraft Arclight Rumble mobile game on Google Play. It’ll soon become available on the Apple App Store as well.
