Revisit Shohoku High School In The First Slam Dunk Trailer

The First Slam Dunk trailer is finally here!

Less than a month before the animated film’s December 3 theatrical debut, The First Slam Dunk trailer has been published, showcasing more of the CG animation used in the production while guarding the plot in order to keep fans guessing. The original anime series was never completed so many think the forthcoming film is a preemptive move to create a follow up series to the beloved japanese manga and TV sports series.

Takehiko Inoue, the creator of the original Slam Dunk manga, wrote and directed The First Slam Dunk. He collaborated with Toei Animation and Dandelion Animation Studio for the film’s production. Here is a detailed synopsis of the series for those who haven’t yet watched it:

The series tells the story of Hanamichi Sakuragi, a teenager who falls in love with Haruko Akagi after being rejected by 50 other girls. However, as Haruko is in love with Kaede Rukawa, a popular and talented basketball player, Sakuragi decides to join the Shohoku High School basketball team to surpass Rukawa and make Haruko fall in love with him. As he starts learning how to play basketball with Shohoku, Sakuragi starts liking the sport and becomes determined to be the best player. On the team, Sakuragi meets Haruko’s older brother, Takenori Akagi, who is also Shohoku’s captain, and two other players with a violent past which caused them to leave the sport some time ago, Ryota Miyagi, and Hisashi Mitsui. Together these five players help make Shohoku one of the best high school teams in Japan.

The First Slam Dunk trailer starts off with a couple of kids playing basketball, which is then followed by shots of Haruko Akagi reflecting at the beach and the Shohoku High School basketball team huddling before a game. The voice cast has also been unveiled, consisting of Kenta Miyake as Takenori Akagi, Subaru Kimura as Hanamichi Sakuragi, Shin’ichiro Kamio as Kaede Rukawa, Jun Kasama as Hisashi Mitsui, and Shugo Nakamura as Ryota Miyagi.
