Super Mario 64 Speedrunner Suigi Breaks Own World Record

The Super Mario 64 speedrunner set a new time for a 16-Star run

Hold onto your hats, Super Mario 64 speedrunner Suigi has broken the world record for a 16-Star run. What’s even more wild is that he himself was the previous record holder. His new world record is essentially unbeatable and might never be surpassed as long as mere mortals continue to exist on Earth.

Setting another new world record, the Super Mario 64 speedrunner completed the run in only 14 minutes and 35 seconds. Speedrunner Suigi claimed that his record breaking attempt was done without any mistakes. As shown on Speedrun.com, he is now at the top of the global leaderboard for the 16-star run by a fair margin, with second place clocking in at 14:50.69 and third place at 14:53.45.

Viewers were well aware of Suigi’s record breaking outcome. “Quite possibly the greatest speedrun of all time, across all games,” said one commenter. “Destroys his fastest time by 6 seconds after already having an overwhelming lead in this category. This SM64 run is the GOAT run. Nothing compares,” said another.

Along with other Super Mario 64 records, including one that he accomplished just last week, Suigi added his new record to his Twitter bio. Recently, he became the first person in the world to finish a 1-Star run in under seven minutes by completing it in 6:58.35.

With his latest 16-Star record, Suigi is satisfied that he’s achieved the best time possible and is now ready to take on a new challenge. “First 14:3X, world record, with no mistakes. I am done. It’s time to move on,” the Super Mario 64 Speedrunner posted on Twitter.
