Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 Highlights: All Major Announcements

Wow, what a show—there’s so many Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 highlights from the four-day event to cover, from Disney Plus shows to video games to comics and merch. We got to see Andor (the Rogue One prequel) as well as a glimpse at Season 3 of The Mandalorian. There was also a preview of the Ahsoka Tano spinoff series, and a teaser for the second season of The Bad Batch.

Andor – Teaser Trailer (Disney+)

Lucasfilm’s Studio Showcase provided the first trailer for the Disney+ original series Andor, starring Diego Luna as Cassian Andor. An official release date of August 31 was revealed. They also announced Star Wars: Skeleton Crew and a February release for season 3 of The Mandalorian. As for non-Star Wars movies, the first trailer for the Willow television show debuted along with the first image from the upcoming Indiana Jones 5 film.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – Official Teaser

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was announced with a showcase of the debut trailer and a 2023 release date. The sequel to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order follows Cal Kestis’ effort to flee the Empire. In addition, the Nintendo Switch will be receiving the classic Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords on June 8. Friday’s Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 highlights also included director Ron Howard and writer Lawrence Kasdan teasing a six-part documentary on Lucasfilm’s special effects branch, Industrial Light & Magic, before it launches on Disney+ on July 27.

The Mandalorian: Season 3 – Extended Trailer

Although a trailer has not been made available online, Saturday’s first major panel “Mando+: A Conversation with Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni” revealed the extended trailer for season 3 of The Mandalorian. There was also a surprise trailer for the upcoming live-action Ahsoka Tano show and an unveiling of a new comic series about Yoda.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch – Season 2 Official Trailer (Disney+)

Coming to Disney+ this fall, the creators of the CGI animated Clone Wars spinoff have released a trailer for the second season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Following this announcement, Rupert Friend, who plays Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s Grand Inquisitor, confirmed during the closing ceremony that the next Star Wars Celebration would be held at London’s Excel Center in 2023 from April 7 to 10.

Fans who were unable to attend the event may relive its moments on the official Star Wars YouTube channel and on StarWars.com, where recordings of select panels and other Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 highlights will be made available.
