Official real name of Joker revealed by DC Comics

The DC Comics Flashpoint Beyond series has given us the real name of Joker revealin its latest issue, and it oddly shares similarities with the lead singer of The White Stripes? Are you ready for the spoiler?

In Flashpoint Beyond, Thomas Wayne, the father of Bruce Wayne, visits Arkham Asylum to see his imprisoned wife Martha. Thomas is informed by Martha that she forced Psycho-Pirate, a notorious villain with vast knowledge of the multiverse, to divulge all of his information about the main DC Universe timeline, including the real name of the Joker.

It was then the real name of Joker reveal occurred. Jack Oswald White is the true identity of the janitor at Wayne Casino. Martha states that she even visited Jack Oswald White in the Flashpoint universe, finding him to be a family man trying to financially support his wife and child.

This wasn’t the first time that the real name of Joker reveal has happened in the DC Universe. In the 1989 film Batman, the identity of Joker was portrayed as a mobster by the name of Jack Napier. This identity later appeared in the comics in the parallel reality of Batman: White Knight. In addition, 2019’s Joker film casts Joaquin Phoenix as comedian Arthur Fleck.

It’s noteworthy to also confirm that the name of Joker in Flashpoint Beyond was inspired by musician Jack White. White even wrote a statement on Instagram expressing his gratitude to DC Comics in a message to comic artist Mikel Janin.

“Bizarre patterns and coincidences emerge in the universe that we only see glimpses of at times, some meaningful, some meaningless,” wrote White. “A large thank you to Mr. Janin for contributing this wonderful work to the record.”
