The Razer Viper V2 Pro Lightweight Gaming Mouse Only Weighs 58g

Razer’s Viper V2 Pro lightweight gaming mouse upgrades the Viper Ultimate in their newest flagship

Three years after the release of the Viper Ultimate, gaming peripheral company Razer has announced their latest wireless flagship mice model in the Viper V2 Pro lightweight gaming mouse. While removing weight and adding longer battery life, this newest addition to the Razer mice lineup might become their most popular mouse to date.

At 58 grams, the Razer Viper V2 Pro lightweight gaming mouse is neck and neck with its competition, and is even a few grams lighter in weight than the Logitech G Pro X Superlight. Razer has reduced 16g of weight in comparison to the 2019 Viper Ultimate model and have packed in a brand new Razer Focus Pro 30K optical sensor with 750 IPS. This sensor is based on the PixArt PAW3950DM and Razer claims it as the world’s most precise mouse sensor.

The Razer Viper V2 Pro also includes the Gen-3 proprietary optical mouse switches by Razer that allow for 90-million clicks within its lifetime, without ever causing double-click issues. A USB-C charging connector is built within the nose of the wireless mouse, making it the first Razer mouse to feature the USB-C connectivity. Although Razer have added a ton of features here, they’ve removed the additional right side thumb buttons that may leave left-handed Razer fanatics displeased. Unfortunate, but there’s good news—the left side thumb buttons are more pronounced now in the V2 Pro.

With up to 80 hours per charge, the Viper V2 Pro lightweight gaming mouse will feature 10 more hours of battery life than the Ultimate. While using Razer’s Synapse 3 software, users will be able to adjust wireless power saving features such as a low-power mode and a sleep mode when idling.

We’ve got to say, it’s a relief to see that gaming peripheral giants such as Razer have not accepted the trendy hole cut-outs to alleviate mouse weight. It’s an antiquated and sloppy approach, and we’ve seen the construction quality decrease as a result of it from other manufacturers. No holes (besides the USB-C) are found on the Viper V2 Pro lightweight gaming mouse, and there’s no RGB lighting either which will help save on battery.

Priced at $149, the Razer Viper V2 Pro is expensive but it addresses a lot of the issues that users had in the Viper Ultimate. This new flagship seems to be on track to become the go-to mouse for the competitive esports scene while retaining the safe shape for all sorts of grip styles. We expect Razer to touch up on the Viper Mini and maybe even introduce a whole new mouse shape toward the end of this year.
