No E3, no problem—Sony’s PlayStation State of Play June 2022 might just have been the showcase of the summer, or even the year, with blockbuster announcements of brand new IPs, remasters, and PC ports. There sure is a whole lot to cover here.
PlayStation State of Play June 2022 might go down in history as the best State of Play of all time. Some of the biggest reveals for the next wave of video games for the new generation have been unveiled, including gameplay from Street Fighter 6, Final Fantasy XVI, and Resident Evil 4 Remake. Let’s go through each announcement to see what Sony has in store.
The Callisto Protocol (PS4/PS5)
The Callisto Protocol is set in 2320 on Jupiter’s “dead moon” named Callisto and tells the story of Jacob Lee, an inmate at Black Iron Prison who must survive as the moon is thrown into turmoil by a strange epidemic.
Eternights (PS4/PS5)
Eternights is a dating sim/action game in which you strive to make the most of life in the post-apocalyptic world.
Final Fantasy XVI (PS5)
New Eikons (summons) are featured in the latest trailer for FFXVI, as well as a closer look at the action-packed fighting system. It’s definitely one of the biggests highlights of State of Play June 2022. FFXVI looks to be a film-grade experience for the gamers.
Horizon Call of the Mountain (PS VR2)
Set in the world of Horizon, the player will take control of Ryas, a former Shadow Carja Warrior who is investigating a new threat to the Sundom.
No Man’s Sky (PS VR2)
In this new update for PS VR2, Hello Games have rebuilt Starship and land vehicle cockpits and control systems, redesigned menu systems and interfaces, and reworked teleportation controls, terrain manipulation, and warp effects.
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered (PC)
The critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man is finally heading to PC. Both Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be available with PC-specific features such as optimizations for ray-tracing and render settings.
Resident Evil 4 Remake (PS5)
2005’s blockbuster action-horror game by Capcom was one of the most successful games ever made, though it did lack the survival-horror gameplay that the Resident Evil franchise is known for. This time around, the devs at Capcom will be bringing a fresh survival horror aesthetic and vibe to the Resident Evil 4 Remake. Resident Evil Village (PS VR2)
Resident Evil Village, the award-winning PlayStation 5 game, is coming to PlayStation VR2! The campaign is currently being developed to be played in VR in its entirety.
Rollerdrome (PS4/PS5)
Set to launch this August, Rollerdrome is an artistic, futuristic roller derby battle. Players will combine skate tricks with slow-mo kills while carefully selecting loadouts to survive the rounds.
Season: A Letter to the Future (PS4/PS5)
Season: A Letter to the Future‘s gameplay revolves around exploring, documenting, meeting new people, and deciphering the weird world around you. Your tools will assist in discovering and comprehending the culture, history, and ecosystem behind the story.
Stray (PS4/PS5)
Stray is the cat game you never knew you wanted. Developed by cat lovers for cat lovers, Stray will arrive to both PS4 and PS5 as part of the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers on July 19.
Street Fighter 6 (PS4/PS5)
We finally get to see gameplay in this latest trailer for SF6. The State of Play June 2022 rumors were right that we were getting more SF6 news, and we couldn’t be more excited for this new hip-hop themed fighter. Everyone looks so badass, just take a look at the trailer yourself!
The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution (PS VR2)
Two years after the release of The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, the next chapter will bring a chainsaw to the story of The Tourist. New enemies and nightlife will lurk the city of New Orleans.
Tunic (PS4/PS5)
Tunic is a single-player adventure/puzzle game that will incorporate the “Game Help” PS5 feature. This beautiful isometric game about a little fox will take the player on a journey with ancient powers and terrifying monsters.
