Overwatch 2 PvP Beta Test Starts In April

The Overwatch 2 PvP beta test starts next month on PC

Developers at Blizzard have officially confirmed that the Overwatch 2 PvP beta test starts in late April 2022 exclusively on PC. In order to join in on the fun, you’ll have to make sure you’re all signed up and ready to play the sequel of one of the biggest franchises in gaming history.

Closed alpha testing has already started in select regions, which includes a player base of professional gamers from the Overwatch League along with the employees at Blizzard. The Overwatch 2 PvP beta test start time is still unknown, but the company’s goal for the closed beta is to test out their new features before moving on to stress-testing the servers with a larger player base for future tests.

Signing up for the Overwatch 2 PvP beta test starts now, as players can go to the Overwatch 2 website and click on the “Opt-In Now” or “Sign up Now” buttons. After logging into your Battle.net account, your beta test entry will be reserved! It’s super simple, and Blizzard will start to grant access to players in multiple waves once late April rolls around. To start things off, here are some new features that will be introduced in OW2.

  •     5v5
  •     New Hero: Sojourn
  •     Hero Reworks: Bastion, Doomfist, Orisa, Sombra
  •     New Mode: Push
  •     New Maps: Circuit Royale (Escort), Midtown (Hybrid), Colosseo (Push), New Queen Street (Push)
  •     New Ping System

Aside from the new “Push” mode, we’re looking forward to Sojourn, the new DPS focused hero to join the cast of Overwatch. She already has a badass design and her abilities kit should be even better. The new 5v5 system is also intriguing as it is one character less than what we’ve been accustomed to since OW1.

Expect Blizzard to provide more updates on what to expect as we near the launch of the OW2 beta. For console players, don’t worry! Once the closed beta is over, there will be a follow up open beta that should be available on all platforms.
