Overwatch 2 Launch Trailer Showcases New Heroes And Stages

Check out the Cyberdemon Genji mythic skin in the new Overwatch 2 launch trailer

We could always use more heroes — the new Overwatch 2 launch trailer has arrived! Blizzard’s flagship FPS has solidified its position in gaming history with its abundance of amazing characters, gorgeous maps, and an active esports community, and now it returns with its long awaited sequel.

The Overwatch 2 launch trailer highlights three new characters: Sojourn, Junkerqueen, and Kiriko. As a DPS, tank, and support character, respectively, the three can be seen battling it out along with the original and legendary Overwatch cast of heroes.

Kiriko is the new ninja support hero for the very first season of Overwatch 2. Her primary allows her to send out homing projectiles through walls to heal her teammates, while her secondary utilizes a kunai, similar to Genji’s shuriken. Kiriko’s teleportation ability lets her pass through walls and her “Protection Suzu” protects her teammates, giving them immunity for a brief period of time. Like the Shimada brothers, she can also climb walls!

According to the trailer, it appears that players will team up to fight through cities overrun by Omnics, all the while needing to coordinate their attacks and adjust to their adversaries. Fans of Overwatch may not be familiar with the plot itself, but maybe that’ll all be cleared up when the PVE update drops in the future.

Overwatch’s first ever “mythic” skin has also been revealed. Blizzard probably took some notes on Respawn Entertainment’s “Prestige” skins from Apex Legends, but we’re not complaining one bit. Don’t want to spoil too much here but check out the Overwatch 2 launch trailer below to get a good look at Cyberdemon Genji mythic skin around the 1:20 mark.
