Nike is suing Warren Lotas and having his Dunks Canceled

Warren Lotas Knockoff Nike Dunks Canceled

Nike has decided to have the Warren Lotas Dunks Canceled, and Warren Lotas is being sued by Nike, after a small number of knockoffs release.

Warren Lotas had created his own “Pigeon” knockoff dunks, co-signed by Jeff Staple. The Lotas Dunks are very similar in design to the Nike dunks, featuring many of the iconic details Nike brought to the sneaker scene in 2002.

The Lotas knockoffs include a standard Nike swoosh, the same upper, and the identical midsole and outsole as the classic Nike dunks.

Nike is attempting to have a Los Angeles federal judge call for an immediate stop to the Lotas Dunks production and sale of the sneakers. Nike stated that the sneakers were “confusingly similar”, but, Lotas assured in an Instagram post that the sneakers were “An official reinterpretation” of the Nike Dunks.

Warren argued that he is not mass producing his shoes like other companies around the world. He expresses that he is creating the dunks from scratch with “Italian Materials” rather than at a factory with cheap materials. Lotas appears to be passionate about the work he has done on his shoes, yet, upset that Nike is trying to stop him from continuing something he loves to do.

In Nike’s injunction against Lotas Nike announces, “If [Warren Lotas] is allowed to flood the market with its fakes, Nike will lose control over its hard-earned reputation, and the goodwill Nike has spent decades building in its trademarks will be damaged,” reads the filing. “[Warren Lotas] must be stopped from fulfilling the pre-orders for the infringing sneakers during the pendency of this action.”

Basically, Nike is asking that all the money made from pre-orders is held in escrow until the lawsuit is over and determined. Nike requests that Lotas should acknowledge and respond to the injunction within 30 days.
