Lebron 19 Low Magic Fruity Pebbles officially teams up Nike and Post for National Cereal Day
As sweet as the cereal, the Nike Lebron 19 Low Magic Fruity Pebbles are a throwback to Saturday morning cartoons. Nike first used themes of the popular children’s breakfast cereal back in 2006 for one of the Lebron 4 colorways. Now Nike has revisited the Flintstones aesthetic with Lebron James’ favorite crispy rice breakfast from his childhood, set to launch on National Cereal Day on March 7, 2022.
With a white base and red and yellow Flintstones graphics on the inner tongue, the Lebron 19 Low Magic Fruity Pebbles is perfectly but not overly decorated in the design of its cereal inspiration. The insoles display an illustrated recreation of a cartoon-styled Lebron James dunking on the left insole along with Fred Flintstone on the right. An actual image of the red and yellow flakes can be seen at the shoe’s heel.
A very unique feature of this special edition Lebron 19 Low Magic Fruity Pebbles sneaker is in its color shifting properties where Nike has implemented their “Photochromic DCS Technology”. Like how Fruity Pebbles would change the color of milk from white to purple, the clear Air unit within the shoe changes to a translucent purple once it’s been exposed to UV lighting. This marks the first time Nike has ever applied color changing features on any of their shoes.
Besides the fact that Lebron loves the crunchy sweetness of Fruity Pebbles, there was another connection that led to the distinctive collaboration between a superstar athlete and his favorite cereal. Warner Brothers is the production company that owns Flintstones who also produced Space Jam: A New Legacy, the live-action/animated film starring Lebron. Both brands took this opportunity to strengthen their partnership.
“To have an original pair of my Nike sneakers pay tribute to my favorite cereal growing up is surreal,” stated Lebron James in a press release. “Putting them on and seeing the colorway come to life is even better.”
Cereal boxes of the Magic Fruity Pebbles should be much more attainable than the shoe itself, as they’ll become available at all major supermarkets, while supplies last of course. Each box will contain a 20% off single item coupon on Nike.com.
