The Edge of History teaser trailer welcomes Lisette Olivera
The first National Treasure Edge of History teaser trailer has just been released by Disney. The entertainment brand’s new spin-off streaming series for Disney+ hasn’t given any clues to the casting of Nicolas Cage as Benjamin Franklin Gates, but we do see Lisette Olivera (We Need To Do Something) in her new role as the main protagonist.
In contrast to the 2004 and 2007 films that center around Gates, the Edge of History TV series will follow Jess Morales. According to Disney, Jess is “a brilliant and resourceful DREAMer who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about her family’s mysterious past and save a lost Pan-American treasure.” With just a glimpse of the National Treasure Edge of History teaser trailer, we’d like to agree.
Jake Austin Walker from Rectify, Antonio Cipriano from Jagged Little Pill, Jordan Rodrigues from Lady Bird, and Zuri Reed from Flatbush Misdemeanor, will accompany Jess on her voyage in Edge of History. The character of Billie Pearce, a rich black-market antique dealer, will be introduced by Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Disney Plus announced Harvey Keitel will be returning for the series. As FBI agent Peter Sadusky, Keitel co-starred in National Treasure and National Treasure: Book of Secrets. In this new 10-episode series, Keitel will reprise his role as a clever history buff with a talent for discovering lost treasure. Austin Bartha will also return and reprise his role as Riley Poole.
Unfortunately the National Treasure Edge of History teaser trailer doesn’t provide a release date, but we hope to get one soon. That and a Nicolas Cage confirmation, of course.
