Sony Pictures has released the first official trailer for their live-action Gran Turismo film, a rendition of the PlayStation Studios iconic Gran Turismo video game franchise. The film departs from the virtual world and traverses to the real life story of Jann Mardenborough while honoring the broad appeal of the classic racing simulator.

The upcoming live-action Gran Turismo film is based on the true story of Mardenborough. As an ardent Gran Turismo gamer, Mardenborough miraculously translates his gaming prowess into tangible racing skills, catapulting him to the professional racing circuit as a Nissan driver, notably competing in the Dubai 24 Hour race.

Helmed by acclaimed director Neill Blomkamp, recognized for his work on films such as District 9 and Elysium, the narrative centers on the life of Mardenborough, portrayed by British actor Archie Madekwe. It illuminates his remarkable ascent to stardom in the GT Academy competition where he triumphs over an astounding 90,000 participants, marking the start of his illustrious racing career.

The movie boasts a cast featuring the likes of David Harbour, who plays Jann’s trainer. Orlando Bloom stars as the PR guy, while Djimon Hounsou and Geri Halliwell have been casted to play Jann’s parents.
