The Ilan Manouach ONEPIECE Manga Set Contains All 50 Of Its Volumes

The gigantic Ilan Manouach ONEPIECE manga set weighs 37.5 pounds!

Confirmed to be the world’s longest book, the Ilan Manouach ONEPIECE manga volume set includes a whopping 21,450 pages and includes every single digitally released panel of One Piece. This project for the long-running Japanese comic comes in 50 editions with each priced at $1,893 — and they’re all sold out.

Just within days of the September 7 launch that was held through JBE Books, each of the signed and numbered copies of the Ilan Manouach ONEPIECE manga were sold. The drop came just a few months following One Piece writer and illustrator Eiichiro Oda’s official accolade of creating Guinness World Record’s most highly circulated comic in history.

Ilan Manouach claims that his ONEPIECE set was developed to be “contemplated as a materialization of digital comics’ very own media-saturated digital ecosystem” and “exists only as an object of pure speculation.” Additionally, he points out that the manga dives through the differences and similarities between the “use value” of comics for its readers and their “exchange value” for its collectors.

Colored illustrations of the series’ main character, Monkey D. Luffy, are found on the spine of the Ilan Manouach ONEPIECE manga volume set. It measures at 12 x 18.5 x 80 centimeters with a spine width of 80 cm and is presented inside a black slipcase as a single volume.

Manouach has also created other comic book projects including a recreation of Peanuts, a redraw of the French edition of Art Spiegelman’s Maus, and the Katz comic. He currently works as a librarian for the Conceptual Comics Collections at Ubuweb and Monoshop.
