The Boondocks Reboot is Pushed to Later this Year

HBO Max just announced that The Boondocks Reboot is Pushed to Later this Year, being late and delayed once again by HBO. The animation film was due for a reboot.

The Boondocks went on to have four seasons and 55 total episodes. The show aired between 2005 and 2014.

There is yet to be a specified release date for The Boondocks, it is only known that it is coming “later in 2021”.  The reboot will include a 50-minute special film.

The show would be “rebooted for the modern era” to match current situations around the world and to be up to date on the latest trends. Aaron McGruder the creator, is going to be returning after he left before the show’s final season four.

In the past, McGruder previously spoke about how the show would be fun to revisit the show and update it as the world around us has changed. McGruder had said,” It’s crazy how different the times we live in are now – both politically and culturally”.

HBO Max had ordered 24 episodes that were supposed to premiere last Fall but got delayed and then delayed once again until later this year.

The series starred Regina King that voiced both boy characters in the show, Huey and Riley. Regina King is most likely going to be in The Boondocks reboot as many fans expect her return, but not much information has been put out about the boondocks cast in the upcoming Boondocks reboot.

Look out for a release date coming soon later this year for the release of the boondocks Reboot.
