Balenciaga Tiger Sculpture From Objects Collection Revealed

The Balenciaga Tiger Sculpture retails for $33,000

2022 will be the Year of the Tiger, and the Balenciaga Tiger Sculpture has arrived just in time for the Lunar New Year festivities. As part of the popular Balenciaga Objects collection, this fierce and ferocious figure is the Spanish luxury brand’s newest addition to the line, designed by Shanghai-based artist Nik Kosmas who is known for his unique, explicit works themed around science fiction, psychology, and the human anatomy.

Made of black blass, the Balenciaga Tiger Sculpture was welded completely by hand and made from separate components that were meticulously powder-coated, glossed, and molded individually using a lost-wax metal casting technique. The sculpture weighs 13 kg (~28 pounds) and measures 55.88 cm x 17.78 cm with a height of 27.94 cm.

The Balenciaga Tiger Sculpture has a mechanical style resembling industrial engineering and the natural beauty of the cat species. Even its whiskers have been carved. As if the tiger was wearing some type of futuristic armor plate, the vertebrae-like tail and gears fittings on the joints give it a vicious look. In a hunting stance, the tiger’s head is slightly tilted and its fangs are on display. The Balenciaga logo is engraved on both the head of the tiger and at the side of the sculpture’s base.

As a special unwearable product line that first launched in 2020, the Balenciaga Objects collection features everyday items such as aprons, pillows, and wine glasses. This new feline addition to the Balenciaga Objects collection will cost $33,200 and can only be purchased or reserved in-store. Each of the limited-series sculptures will be numbered from 1-15.
