Bad Bunny Is Casted For El Muerto

CinemaCon 2022—Bad Bunny Is Casted For El Muerto

Joining the Sony-Marvel Universe, it was announced at CinemaCon 2022 that music artist Bad Bunny is casted for the upcoming El Muerto film. This would mark the first Marvel standalone movie to feature a Latin superhero lead.

After making the news at the convention, the 28-year-old Latin Grammy Award winner will play the fictional character El Muerto (Juan Carlos Estrada Sanchez). El Muerto is a wrestler whose powers have been passed down in the form of a mask which grants him superhuman strength. Sony executives said on stage at CinemaCon that Bad Bunny (Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) will play an antihero on the cusp of acquiring his father’s power.

Bad Bunny is casted as El Muerto and shares similar characteristics as a big WWE fan who competed against John Morrison and The Miz at WrestleMania 37. Just recently in January, Bad Bunny faced off against Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble. Bad Bunny has even expressed his passion for wrestling to his fans at his concerts.

The Puerto Rican artist has starred in “Narcos: Mexico,” and will next appear in “Cassandro” and “Bullet Train’, which will be released this July.
